Welcome to my blog, The Laughing Philosopher. You can check out more about me and the blog on the About page, but in a nutshell, I am a former Corporate guy who is striking out on his own and trying to build a very different kind of life. I call the blog The Laughing Philosopher because that is exactly the vibe I am trying to capture – someone who is thoughtful, but always with a healthy sense of humor.
My vision for the blog is to create a place of ideas, debate, information, and positive energy as I figure out my path and I hope that readers will be able to find much that is useful to help with their own situations. As Mr. Thoreau said, “I trust that none will stretch the seams in putting on the coat, for it may do good service to him whom it fits.”
My vision for myself is to create a simpler and more satisfying life that builds personal skills as well as professional ones, generates a supportable level of income, allows for deeper community involvement, and is just plain more healthy, mentally and physically, than my previous Corporate gig. It will involve a significant level of personal reinvention as well as rethinking much that I currently do. My first two posts will directly address the tagline I chose for the blog – one on “Embracing Reinvention” and the second on “Building a 21st Century Life”. They will be longer than the usual posts I intend to write in the future, but they will serve as the foundation that I will use to get the blog off the ground.
So, shall we?

A quote from Thoreau to start-how apt.
A good start to a meaningful blog. I also like the format.
